From "The Curve of Ear"

At lunch, lying in a first sun of the year
that paints the inside of my closed eyelids
orange, I am in a pool of sound
and the car starting taps me
when it would not have reached
my thoughts at all, mixes
with broken ladders of talk.

Red walls and readers. Framed naked poses in brown and black charcoal. Distraction in thumb smudges rubbed along shaded thighs.
